Vasily Chegodar (1918-1989) was born in Chervony Yar in Odessa Oblast. He graduated from the Perm School of Art in 1939, studied at the Kiev State Institute of Art where his tutors were S. Grigoriev, F. Mikheyev, E. Shuysky.

The artist was a member of Union of Artists of the USSR and an Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1982). He lived and worked in Kiev. The painter’s works of art can be found in private collections of Ukraine, Russia and Europe.
